Orchard Village hired Rush Powers Media to produce a promotional video that could be shown at fundraising events and meetings, posted on their website and used as an icebreaker to enhance other marketing opportunities. Our involvement included creative development, production planning, shooting interviews and documentary footage, video editing, creating graphics/text animation, and delivering the finished product on DVD, as a high-definition file for presentations, and in a web-friendly format.

Global Integrity hired Rush Powers Media to produce an "About" video that could be shown at meetings and presentations--and posted on their website. Rush University Medical Center Find-a-Doctor Profile Videos

Rush Powers Media is collaborating with Rush University Medical Center's marketing team to produce 30-to-60-second video clips for each doctor at the hospital. These videos bring each physician's credentials and personality to life and accompany their Find-a-Doctor online profile. Our responsibilities on the project include appointment scheduling coordination and project management, as well as shooting and interviewing each doctor, editing each interview into a clip for review, supervising the review process, and delivering the final version of each doctor's clip in a web-ready format. This highlight reel demonstrates a sampling of the different types of doctors that have participated in the project thus far.

Rush Powers Media is collaborating with Carolyn Grisko & Associates, a strategic communications firm, and Rush University Medical Center's marketing team to produce 30-to-60-second video clips for each doctor at the hospital. University of Illinois at Chicago College of Education Colloquium Series

Rush Powers Media was hired by the University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Education to cover the kickoff session of its World Class Education Colloquium Series. We recorded two keynote speeches, one panel discussion and sit-down interviews with several of the key attendees at the event. We edited the best responses from the interviews into three distinct clips, each of them addressing 1-2 questions. The clip above features the attendees best responses to the following questions:

What elements can Illinois and the U.S. adopt from other countries' educational systems?
What will it take to implement these changes?

Note: Rush Powers Media also created the motion graphics and selected the music that is being used in all of the video clips we are delivering for the colloquium series, in addition to creating the text IDs for each speaker.

Chicago Bulls Free Agent Sales Pitch: Carlos Boozer

Rush Powers Media were one of three production companies hired to produce a series of 21 videos for the Chicago Bulls' 2010 free agent campaign. The videos were presented on an iPad to the seven top free agents the Bulls were pursuing in the summer of 2010. The following link shows the video that played when Carlos Boozer--the only top free agent the Bulls signed (of the original seven they pursued)--powered up the iPad that was sent to him. We produced the lead, customized video for all seven free agents. Plus, we produced several other videos that were included on the iPad. We also shot several interviews with Bulls players/staff, as well as White Sox and Bears players for the project.

ICIJ Promotional Video

The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) hired Rush Powers Media to produce a promotional video that could be shown at international conferences/meetings and posted on their website. Our involvement included creative development, writing/recording voice-over narration, shooting interviews, video capturing web pages, overseeing the gathering of interviews and photos from journalists around the world, video editing, creating 3-D motion graphics and delivering the finished product on DVD and in a web-ready format.

Boxeo Fitness Instructional/Demo Video

Rush Powers Media was hired by Rey Perez, a former professional boxer and current fitness instructor, to produce a demonstration video for Boxeo Fitness--the Latin dance/boxing hybrid workout he created. Our role included everything from concept development, script writing and logo/graphics creation to shooting, video editing and delivery of the final product on DVD and as a web-ready file. 

Donate Life Illinois Public Installation Video

Rush Powers Media collaborated with Carolyn Grisko & Associates, a strategic communications firm, to produce a 10-minute public installation video for Gift of Hope's National Donate Life Month campaign in April 2011. The video was originally installed in The Thompson Center in downtown Chicago, then continued to be publicly displayed around the state of Illinois for the remainder of 2011. Our responsibilities on the project included creative development, motion graphics creation, video editing and delivery of the final video as an HD file for display. (Note: This was a video-only project. There is no sound.)

Nature Conservancy B-Roll

GreenMark Public Relations hired Rush Powers Media to shoot and edit footage for their client, the Nature Conservancy. After spending a half day documenting a group of Chinese scientists' visit to the Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, we edited and delivered the footage as a b-roll package in HD for broadcast news coverage and as web-ready file for online promotional campaigns. 

Illinois Early Childhood Fellows

Rush Powers Media produced this promotional storytelling/recruitment video for Illinois Early Childhood Fellows. The video is a web-only companion piece that conveys the experience of being an IECF fellow and mentor, and the kind of person who would make a good candidate for the fellowship. Instead of being a detailed overview about the program, this video supplements the information on the IECF website (http://www.ilearlychildhoodfellows.org/). Our role included creative development, shooting, video editing and delivering the finished clip in a web-ready format.

The Center for Public Integrity 20th Anniversary Video

The Center for Public Integrity hired Rush Powers Media to produce a promotional video for their 20th anniversary. The primary audience for the video is current and potential funders. Our involvement included creative development, shooting interviews and b-roll, video capturing web pages, acquiring footage, video editing and storytelling, and delivering the finished product on DVD and in a web-ready format.

Urban Initiatives: Axelson Award Winner

Rush Powers Media produced three video clips for the award ceremony at the Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management's 12th annual symposium. After the finalists in each category were announced, the winner was revealed via the video clip playing on two large screens in the banquet room. Urban Initiatives was the 2011 Excellent Emerging Organization winner. The winners received their clip on DVD and in a web-ready format for use in future communications efforts. Our role in the project included script writing, voice-over recording, video editing, graphics/text animating and delivering the finished product in multiple formats.

The Bridge Youth & Family Services: Axelson Award Winner

Rush Powers Media produced three video clips for the award ceremony at the Axelson Center for Nonprofit Management's 11th annual symposium. Gun Control Press Conference: McDonald v. Chicago

The Joyce Foundation hired Rush Powers Media to edit together highlights from a McDonald v. Chicago press conference in Washington, D.C. The media event focused on the Supreme Court case that challenges the constitutionality of Chicago's handgun ban and other gun control regulations. The Joyce Foundation posted the highlights clip on their website and used it in communications efforts for their gun violence program.           

The Learning Institute Testimonial Videos: What separates them?

Rush Powers Media produced a series of six testimonial video clips for The Learning Institute's website. Our involvement in the collaboration with the educational company included creative development, writing questions, shooting interviews with seven of their clients, editing the interviews into six distinct clips, adding graphics, text animation and music, and delivering the clips in a web-ready format.

Z-Boys Story: Lords of Dogtown Act 1

Dave Powers was the producer and director of this MTV2 documentary-style show about the history of professional skateboarding. It was a promotional special for the film Lords of Dogtown (directed by Catherine Hardwicke, starring Emile Hirsch and Heath Ledger) that was hosted by Jim Shearer and features interviews with skateboard legends Stacy Peralta and Tony Alva, as well as the cast and director of the movie.             

Playlistism: SwiMP3 Segment

Dave Powers was the writer and producer of the investigative, news magazine-style series Playlistism on MTV2. He also field produced/directed some of the pieces in the show, including this segment about the SwiMP3, a revolutionary underwater MP3 player.             

Life In the Fast Lane Act 1 (Part 1)

Dave Powers was the co-producer and co-shooter of this MTV2 documentary-style special about the global car culture phenomenon. The show follows car customizer RJ DeVera and pro drag racer Christian Rado.

Hip Hop's Toughest Rhymes

Dave Powers was the co-creator, producer and eventually supervising producer of the hit MTV2 show Hip Hop's Toughest Rhymes, one of the most popular and longest-running original series in the channel's history. This is a portion of Act 1 of a 2005 episode. It includes videos by Trick Daddy and Busta Rhymes.

Highlights from MTV2 shows--including MTV2 Hip Hop, MTV2 Rock, Subterranean and 120 Minutes--where Dave Powers prepared the interview questions for the host, directed the host, guest talent and crew in the field or studio, and conducted an additional interview with the guest talent.            

Crash Course: Fat Joe

During his time as Supervising Producer of Sprint TV's SEE Music--a music television channel exclusively available on Sprint mobile phones--Dave Powers co-created several weekly shows, including Crash Course--an in-depth look at an album and/or an artist. The Fat Joe Crash Course on his album "The Elephant in the Room," profiled both the artist and his latest album, and included an interview with Fat Joe. For this particular Crash Course, Dave wrote the script, directed the host reads in the studio and post produced the finished segment.

The Joyce Foundation hired Rush Powers Media to record a 90-minute panel discussion on microtargeting, netroots mobilization and e-advocacy. We edited the footage down into an introduction, three featured presentations, and a Q&A session. In addition, we edited a six-minute overview of the event (the clip above) and a 60-second teaser to drum up interest in the content. All of these clips were posted on The Joyce Foundation website and incorporated into an email blast.

During his time as Supervising Producer of Sprint TV's SEE Music--a music television channel exclusively available on Sprint mobile phones--Dave Powers oversaw the writing and editing of hundreds of daily news segments. Occasionally, he was able to break away from the office and interview an artist. He sat down with legendary rapper Nas a couple of days after Barack Obama's historic acceptance of the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.

During his time as Supervising Producer of Sprint TV's SEE Music--a music television channel exclusively available on Sprint mobile phones--Dave Powers oversaw the writing and editing of hundreds of daily news segments. Occasionally, he was able to break away from the office and interview celebrity talent for a story. He caught up with Mark Wahlberg and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges at a media event a couple of days before the release of their film Max Payne, then wrote and post produced the story for air.

Occasionally, he was able to break away from the office and interview celebrity talent for a feature story. He caught up with The Office's Rainn Wilson at a press junket for his film "The Rocker," and wrote and post produced several feature segments about the movie--including this one about Rainn's preparation for his role.

Who Is Hurricane Chris?

Before assuming the role of Supervising Producer of Sprint TV's SEE Music--a music channel exclusively available on Sprint mobile phones--Dave Powers produced several segments for the fledgling channel. He field produced this artist profile of Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris on the set of his "Hand Clap" video (while simultaneously shooting a "Making the Video"-style segment), then post produced both segments back in the Sprint TV studios. This is an example of a profile without any voice-over narration. The entire story is told by the relevant characters' interviews, music and images.

Roadrunner Records hired Rush Powers Media to produce, shoot, edit and deliver a series of eight web-ready interview clips that were used as pre-album-release promotional materials for Australian rock band Airbourne. The clips appeared on the band's official site and Roadrunner Records' website.

Rock Band Covers Lil Wayne

During his time as Supervising Producer of Sprint TV's SEE Music--a music television channel exclusively available on Sprint mobile phones--Dave Powers oversaw the writing and editing of hundreds of daily news segments. Occasionally, he'd also write and post produce segments, which was the case with this story about rock band Framing Hanley's popular cover of rapper Lil Wayne's smash hit "Lollipop." The segment includes a portion of a SEE Music phone interview with Framing Hanley's frontman, Nixon.
